He took a risk with his strategy, hoping for a Safety Car period that would benefit him. However, he acknowledges that going off track was a mistake that compromised his race.
Perez is confident that his tough outing in this race is not indicative of his overall performance. He believes it was an isolated incident and hopes to bounce back in the next race in Monaco.
The Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner, defended Perez against criticisms and stated that his simulations predicted an optimal potential 7th place for him. He acknowledged that Perez lost time due to his gravel trap excursion, but believes he maximized his performance from his starting position.
