Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, has quickly made a name for himself in the NFL. In just seven years, he has achieved remarkable success, earning numerous Pro-Bowl selections and winning two AP MVP Awards. Not to mention, he has also secured two Super Bowl rings at the young age of 28.

However, amidst all the praise and accolades, there are some who believe that the hype surrounding Mahomes is premature. Figures like Stephen A. Smith, Dan Orlovsky, and Jemele Hill have already declared him as the greatest player ever, but this rush to crown him diminishes the true greatness of the game.

Even if Mahomes triumphs over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII, it is important to note that he still has a long way to go before he can be considered the NFL’s G.O.A.T. Tom Brady, with his impressive collection of rings, still holds the title. Mahomes’ own father, Patrick Mahomes Sr., acknowledges this fact, stating that his son has a ways to go before reaching the level of players like Brady and Joe Montana.

It is refreshing to see someone with common sense, like Mahomes Sr., speak up and provide a more grounded perspective. While Mahomes undoubtedly possesses the drive and talent to potentially surpass Brady as the greatest, he still has much to prove. Two Super Bowls alone cannot secure him a spot among the all-time greats. He needs to sustain his excellence for at least another decade to solidify his place in history.

In conclusion, while Mahomes is undoubtedly a rising star in the NFL, it is important to temper the hype and recognize that he still has a long journey ahead of him. Only time will tell if he can truly reach the level of the greatest quarterbacks in the game.
