Parliament approves end of former SCUTs from January 2025.

Now it’s final, the parliament approved this Friday, in a final global vote, the proposal from PS to eliminate tolls on ex-SCUT and sections “where there are no alternative roads that allow for use in quality and safety”.

The final text presented by the Committee on Economy, Public Works and Housing, originating from a socialist proposal, was approved with the favorable votes of PS, Chega, BE, PCP, Livre and PAN, with the abstention of IL and against from PSD and CDS-PP.

The now approved proposal will come into effect on January 1, 2025, and puts an end to tolls on A4 – Transmontana and Túnel do Marão, A13 and A13-1 – Pinhal Interior, A22 – Algarve, A23 – Beira Interior, A24 – Interior Norte, A25 – Beiras Litoral e Alta, and A28 – Minho on the sections between Esposende and Antas and between Neiva and Darque.
