O’Ward Crushes Competition: Chevy Dominates Iowa Speedway with Thrilling Victory

IndyCar driver Arrow McLaren's Pato O’Ward makes his way around Turn 3 during Detroit Grand Prix in Detroit on Sunday, June 1, 2025.

In a thrilling display of speed and skill, the Iowa Speedway roared to life with a doubleheader weekend that pushed drivers and crews to their limits in the NTT IndyCar Series. The seven-eighths-mile short track witnessed a showdown between the powerhouses of Chevrolet and Honda, culminating in a spectacular victory for one driver.

The stage was set for an intense battle as Honda had previously clinched victory in all 10 races of the IndyCar season. However, the tides turned dramatically during the 275-lap race on Saturday, with Chevrolet drivers staging a remarkable performance. Pato O’Ward of Arrow McLaren stole the show by securing his first win of the season, followed closely by the formidable Team Penske trio of Josef Newgarden, Will Power, and Scott McLaughlin, who dominated the top positions.

The crowd was on the edge of their seats as point leader Alex Palou delivered a stunning comeback on Saturday, starting from pole position and claiming his seventh victory out of 12 races this season. The Honda camp also had reasons to celebrate with Scott Dixon and Marcus Armstrong joining Palou on the podium, showcasing their prowess on the demanding track.

As the dust settled on the action-packed weekend, the spotlight shines on the thrilling victory of O’Ward’s Chevy at Iowa Speedway. With high-octane drama and heart-stopping moments, the event proved to be a true test of skill and determination for all contenders on the track.

Presented by Cometic Gasket, the global leader in gaskets and engine sealing solutions for championship vehicles, the Iowa victory resonates as a testament to the relentless spirit of competition in the world of IndyCar racing. Stay tuned for more adrenaline-pumping updates from the fast-paced world of motorsports.
