In an unexpected twist, Ott Tanak and Martin Jarveloja emerged as the winners of the WRC Rally Italia Sardegna, beating rally leader Sebastian Ogier by a mere 0.2 seconds. This thrilling conclusion occurred when Ogier suffered a puncture just a few kilometers before the end of the Wolf Power Stage, losing his 6.2-second advantage.
Expressing his frustration, Ogier lamented the unfortunate puncture, comparing the rally to a cross-country race and acknowledging Tanak’s deserving efforts. Despite the disappointment, he accepted the reality of the situation, recognizing that setbacks like this are part of life.
Meanwhile, Dani Sordo secured the final podium position, ensuring a 1-3 result for Hyundai and leaving Toyota in second and fourth positions. With this result, Tanak is now tied with Evans for second place in the championship points table.
