Oscar Piastri thinks it wouldn’t be remarkable if Lewis Hamilton wins his 8th Championship in 2024, as he wants the title for himself.

Oscar Piastri had a promising start to his Formula 1 career last year, where he even achieved victory at the Qatar GP Sprint and now he aims to accomplish more. McLaren had a relatively hopeful season in F1 2023, despite a disappointing debut. The team made headlines three years ago when they secured third place in the World Constructors’ Championship, taking advantage of the weaknesses of their competitors. Since then, Zak Brown’s team has been closely monitored by experts and fans for positive results. However, when their performance plateaued in 2021 and 2022, they made changes to bring in new vitality.

After signing a multi-year contract with McLaren, Daniel Ricciardo joined the team but was unable to guide it to success. At the end of 2022, the team decided to part ways with Ricciardo as he did not deliver the desired results. During his two-year tenure at McLaren, Ricciardo only achieved one Grand Prix win and faced inconsistencies in his performance.

With the youthful leadership of Oscar Piastri and his teammate, McLaren seemed to be well-prepared for a successful 2023 season. However, they had a poor start with Piastri failing to finish and Norris finishing last at the season opener in Bahrain. Nevertheless, they managed to turn things around in the second half of the year. Piastri now believes he can strive for a World Championship title after delivering impressive performances in his first season.

As the 2024 F1 season approaches, teams have unveiled their new cars for the upcoming campaign. McLaren surprised fans by revealing their new livery design for the year on January 16, followed by other teams. Nearly a month later, on February 11, they provided a glimpse of their all-new MCL-38. Piastri and Norris had the opportunity to test drive the new car during the media day.

When asked to compare the performance of the new McLaren with the previous year’s car based on his experience during the media day, Piastri had limited information to offer.

In other news, both Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris have expressed their desire to start the 2024 season positively and avoid repeating the mistakes made at the beginning of the previous season. During an interview, Piastri even stated that he and his teammate are prepared to begin strongly. These comments suggest that McLaren fans can expect great results right from the start of the 2024 F1 season. However, only time will tell if they can live up to their claims.
