In a thrilling session at the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix, McLaren’s Oscar Piastri outshines Lando Norris as they dominate FP3 in Barcelona. The final practice round saw a slow start under the scorching midday sun, but it quickly heated up with intense competition on the track.
Carlos Sainz initially impressed aboard the Williams, but soon Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton took charge. However, it was Mercedes’ George Russell who set the pace with a blistering lap time, only to be surpassed by Red Bull’s Max Verstappen by a mere 0.021s.
The session took an unexpected turn when Norris had to abort his lap due to issues with the McLaren’s handling. Despite Norris’ efforts, it was Piastri who stole the show with a remarkable lap time, securing the top spot comfortably.
McLaren continued their dominance in practice sessions, with Norris leading FP1 and Piastri topping FP2. Leclerc, Russell, and Verstappen rounded up the top positions, with surprises from Isack Hadjar in sixth place and Fernando Alonso in eighth.
