Oscar Piastri fiercely denies McLaren sabotage claims: the truth behind the championship battle

Oscar Piastri Hits Back at 'Sabotage' Claims: The Inside Scoop on McLaren's Turbulent 2025 Season!

In a sensational twist on the F1 drama front, rising star Oscar Piastri has vehemently denied allegations of sabotage hurled at McLaren during a recent discussion in the Australian parliament. These explosive claims, made by Nationals senator Matt Canavan, suggested that the McLaren team may have undermined Piastri's 2025 championship aspirations, leaving fans and pundits buzzing with speculation.

The 24-year-old Australian driver was embroiled in a fierce battle for the drivers' championship, taking on his McLaren teammate Lando Norris and four-time champion Max Verstappen. With a series of impressive performances, including five wins in the first nine races, Piastri seemed poised to grab the championship title. However, a late-season resurgence from Verstappen and Norris's newfound consistency left Piastri fighting for third place overall—sparking heated debates about McLaren's dual-driver strategy.

Critics scrutinized McLaren's audacious decision to allow both drivers to race freely against each other, raising eyebrows about whether the team should have backed a single driver in the championship hunt. In response to the swirling controversies, Piastri addressed the allegations directly, stating, “Yeah, I saw, and I think, for me, the takeaway from that was just how closely everyone was supporting it more than anything else.”

The young driver added, “There were certainly no bad intentions last year. I think as a team we know there are things we could have done better, things we could have approached differently. But at no point were there any bad intentions or certainly no sabotage like I’ve seen around a few times.” With a strong emphasis on teamwork, Piastri affirmed, “That’s part of racing; some things go as you want, some things don’t.”

Looking ahead, Piastri expressed confidence in McLaren's capability to improve its performance for the 2026 season, stating, “We've worked very hard on trying to tidy up some of the things we didn't get right last year. I'm confident that we can do a better job in 2026 on the whole.” The 2026 season is set to kick off with an electrifying home race for Piastri at the Australian Grand Prix from March 6-8, promising to be a thrilling start to the new chapter.

As the F1 world eagerly anticipates the upcoming season, one thing is clear: the stakes are higher than ever, and Oscar Piastri is ready to reclaim his rightful place at the forefront of the championship battle. Stay tuned, because with words like these, the drama is far from over!
