In a thrilling display of speed and skill, Oscar Piastri of McLaren outshined all competitors in the only practice session at the F1 Belgian Grand Prix. The championship leader blazed through the iconic Spa circuit, setting a scorching lap time of 1m42.022s, leaving his rivals in the dust.

The session was not just about raw speed but also about fine-tuning the cars with new upgrades and aerodynamic developments. Teams brought out their best, with eight out of 10 teams showcasing new enhancements to gain that crucial edge in the intense mid-season battle.

Drama unfolded on the track with unexpected incidents like offs for Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Franco Colapinto, and even a moment of contention involving Lewis Hamilton. The seven-time world champion found himself in a heated exchange with Gabriel Bortoleto after an impeding incident through the challenging Eau Rouge corner.

As the clock ticked down, the intensity ramped up as drivers pushed the limits by switching to the soft C4 compound tires. Lance Stroll briefly tasted the top spot before Piastri, sporting a new low-downforce rear wing, surged ahead to claim supremacy with a blistering 1m42.022s lap time that remained untouched.

Behind Piastri, the formidable Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing took second place, closely followed by McLaren’s Lando Norris. The session was a mix of excitement and setbacks, with drivers like George Russell and Charles Leclerc showcasing their skills amidst the competitive field.

With qualifying for the sprint race looming large, the stage is set for a showdown of speed and strategy as the drivers gear up for the main event. Stay tuned as the drama unfolds at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit in what promises to be an electrifying F1 weekend.
