Baltimore Orioles Under New Ownership: Cal Ripken Jr. Joins Ownership Group

In a stunning move that has fans buzzing, the Baltimore Orioles will soon have a new owner. John P. Angelos, the current owner and son of longtime O’s owner Peter Angelos, has confirmed that he will be selling the organization for a whopping $1.7 billion. The buyer? None other than Baltimore native and billionaire David Rubenstein.

But Rubenstein won’t be taking on this new venture alone. Joining him in the ownership group is none other than Cal Ripken Jr., a true legend of the franchise. Ripken, who holds the record for the most consecutive games played, took to Twitter to confirm the rumors and express his gratitude towards Orioles fans. He is thrilled to once again be a part of the organization that drafted and developed him.

“I am excited to once again be a part of the Orioles organization and I thank David Rubenstein for including me in the ownership group. The Orioles have been a part of my life since I was a child, and this is a special day. I look forward to this opportunity and will do whatever I can to help the organization. Let’s go O’s!” Ripken tweeted.

Ripken’s announcement sparked a flurry of responses on Twitter, with fans and fellow players alike expressing their admiration for the former shortstop. It’s no surprise given Ripken’s incredible career statistics. Retiring with a .276 batting average, 3,184 hits, 431 home runs, and 1,695 RBI, Ripken’s impact on the game cannot be overstated. He is a 19-time All-Star, a World Series champion, and has earned both Rookie of the Year and MVP awards.

Since retiring from professional baseball, Ripken has found success as a businessman and even owns some minor league teams. While he may not be the majority owner of the Orioles, his presence on the board will undoubtedly be a valuable asset to the organization.

With new ownership on the horizon, Orioles fans can’t help but feel a renewed sense of hope and excitement. The future looks bright for this beloved franchise, and with Cal Ripken Jr. by their side, anything is possible. Stay tuned for more updates on this thrilling development.
