Opel mostra o protótipo do futuro Mokka GSE

Opel has already announced that it is ready to take the GSE subbrand into the electric era, and all indications point to one of the first 100% electric GSE models being the Mokka.

Anticipating this step, Opel has now presented the Mokka GSE Rally, a powerful prototype inspired by rallies equipped with a single electric motor with 280 hp of power and a torque of 345 Nm, which combined with sophisticated motorsport technology, promises performance on par with a Rally4 car.

This prototype is equipped with a multi-disc limited-slip differential and a competition gearbox, along with reinforced drive shafts and wheel hubs, providing high-power propulsion.

The chassis has been manufactured with a lightweight design. The Bilstein rally suspension, with optimized tuning, consists of a reinforced McPherson-type configuration and uniball supports on the front axle, as well as a rigid rear axle with modified springs and dampers.

The electronic driving aids, such as ABS, ESP, lane-keeping assistance, and traction control, are not present in the Mokka GSE Rally. Based on the experience gained with the Corsa Rally Electric, the software tuning for the management of the engine and battery has been designed to achieve maximum efficiency, stability in competitive conditions, and performance.

The electric motor of the Opel GSE Rally is powered by a battery corresponding to the production version with a storage capacity of 54 kWh.

On the outside, the Mokka GSE Rally features the large inscription “OMG! GSE”. Additionally, the yellow brake calipers at the front and the yellow wheels at the back stand out, as well as other design details inspired by rallying. The clearly visible air intake on the roof and the inscription “Mokka GSE RALLY” engraved in white and yellow letters on the black hood enhance the look of the concept.

Inside, this prototype is equipped with a protection structure (certified by the FIA), rally seats with six-point seat belts, a special battery enclosure, and additional underbody protection. The 400-volt system is continuously monitored by the Master Alarm Indicator. Furthermore, the Mokka GSE Rally features a special extinguishing system with a non-conductive extinguishing agent.

“With our new Opel Mokka GSE Rally, we offer a preview of a next-generation 100% electric rally car. Thanks to the latest ‘motorsport’ technology, the prototype delivers strong performance and plenty of power,” said Opel and Vauxhall CEO Florian Huettl.
