Oliver Askew Returns in Thrilling Role for Andretti Formula E Resurgence

Oliver Askew is back in action with a bang, rejoining the Andretti Formula E team as their reserve driver for the upcoming Miami E-Prix. The American driver is set to reunite with the team where he competed during the 2021-22 season in the electric open-wheel category.

Askew will be stepping in as an additional reserve driver alongside Jak Crawford, who is currently busy competing in Formula 2. The duo will share responsibilities, ensuring the team is covered in all circumstances. Askew’s first appearance in his new role will be at the Homestead-Miami Speedway on April 12, coinciding with Crawford’s race in Bahrain.

Expressing his excitement about the reunion, Askew stated, “I’m thrilled to reunite with this talented team, especially since so many familiar faces from Season 8 are still onboard. I can’t wait to dive in and support the team in fine-tuning the car on the simulator as we push through the rest of the season together.”

Having previously raced for Andretti in the final season of Formula E’s GEN2 ruleset, Askew proved his prowess by finishing in the points three times, with a remarkable fourth-place finish at the London E-Prix. His successful stint includes clinching the 2019 Indy Lights title with Andretti, winning seven times during the season.

Apart from being a backup for the team’s main drivers, Jake Dennis and Nico Mueller, as well as Crawford, Askew will play a crucial role in the development of Andretti’s Porsche 99X Electric. He will be actively involved in testing software updates and refining car setups using the team’s simulator.

Team Principal Roger Griffiths expressed his confidence in Askew, stating, “Oliver’s prior experience with our team and knowledgeable understanding of the series make him an excellent fit, and we’re confident he will provide valuable input behind the scenes.”

With Askew back in the driver’s seat, Andretti Formula E is gearing up for an electrifying season ahead, ready to tackle challenges with a strong and experienced lineup.
