The Board of Directors of the European Automobile Manufacturers Association has announced the election of Ola Källenius, CEO of Mercedes, as its new president, effective January 1, 2025.
In addition to the election of the new president, ACEA also approved the return of Stellantis, which will take place at the beginning of January. “Welcoming Stellantis back to ACEA is a sign that the industry is stronger when it acts with a common voice”, said Renault CEO and ACEA president, Luca de Meo.
Ola Källenius will take over the presidency from Luca De Meo, who has held the position for the past two years, and he promises to work on improving regulatory conditions in the journey towards decarbonization and to advocate for free, fair, and rules-based international trade.
“I am confident that the EU automotive industry has what it takes to succeed in global competition”, Ola Källenius stated in a press release.
The ACEA president is elected for a one-year term, which can be renewed for a second year, from among the CEOs of the member companies – 14 of the largest automotive manufacturers in Europe operating globally.
