This morning rumors emerged about Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari in Formula 1 in 2025… and now it’s all confirmed. Mercedes announced the departure of the seven-time world champion at the end of this season, and shortly after, Ferrari confirmed his arrival in 2025 with a multi-year contract. He joins Charles Leclerc, so Carlos Sainz is leaving.

It truly is the end of an era. For the past 17 years, the British driver has been with Mercedes: he entered the top class with McLaren, which was then the main team of the German manufacturer, and in 2013 he joined the factory team that had taken over the structure of BrawnGP in 2010.

Therefore, it was with Mercedes – between McLaren and the official team – that Hamilton achieved all the various records and milestones he has already achieved, including the seven titles (one with McLaren, six with Mercedes). Currently, he has 332 races, 103 wins, 197 podiums, and 104 pole positions, a good portion of these numbers achieved with the Mercedes factory team.

At Ferrari, Hamilton will try to add new achievements to this resume. At this time, the Scuderia has been out of the drivers’ championships since 2007 and the constructors’ championships since 2008, and they have been trying to make their way back to the top with some changes in the structure in recent years: the most significant being the hiring of Frédéric Vasseur as team principal in 2023.
