VIDEO – Lando Norris’ $1.5-Million Ferrari F40 crashed: Iconic supercar damaged while McLaren star was away’

Lando Norris, McLaren’s rising Formula 1 superstar, has made headlines off the track after his cherished Ferrari F40 was involved in a crash on the winding roads of Monaco. The iconic supercar, valued at $1.55 million, sustained significant damage to its rear-left corner. While the incident sparked initial speculation, video footage has confirmed that Norris was not behind the wheel at the time.

The accident: What happened?

A video shared on social media captured the moment the Ferrari F40 lost control and slammed into the barriers on a narrow Monaco road. The footage revealed the car snapping out of control, likely due to oversteering on the tight, twisting streets of the principality.

Norris, who purchased the car after his Miami Grand Prix victory in 2024, was reportedly abroad on vacation when the crash occurred. The license plate on the F40 confirmed the vehicle belonged to the British driver, raising questions about who was driving at the time of the incident.

The Ferrari F40: A piece of automotive history

The Ferrari F40 is not just another supercar—it’s a piece of history. As the last model signed off by Ferrari’s founder, Enzo Ferrari, the F40 represents the pinnacle of 1980s automotive engineering.

  • Engine: 2.9-liter twin-turbo V8
  • Power output: 471 hp
  • Top speed: 201 mph

With its raw power and minimalist design, the F40 remains a prized possession among car enthusiasts and collectors. Its rarity and historical significance make any damage to it a blow not only to its owner but also to the automotive world.

Norris’ focus on the 2025 F1 season

As speculation about the crash settles, Norris is gearing up for what could be the most pivotal season of his career. McLaren’s resurgence in 2024 saw Norris emerge as a genuine title contender, taking the fight to reigning champion Max Verstappen. With Red Bull showing signs of struggle last season and McLaren’s performance skyrocketing, the stage is set for an intense championship battle in 2025.

Despite the off-track drama surrounding his Ferrari, Norris appears focused on maintaining his momentum and delivering results for McLaren.

What’s next for the F40?

While the crash has undoubtedly caused significant damage, the Ferrari F40 can be restored, though repairs to such a rare and valuable car will be both complex and costly. Norris has yet to comment publicly on the incident, but fans will be watching to see if the F40 returns to its former glory.

A momentary setback

For now, the crash serves as an unfortunate reminder of the risks that come with owning such a powerful and rare machine. However, Norris’ focus remains firmly on the 2025 F1 season, where he hopes to make headlines for his on-track performances rather than off-track incidents.
