Nissan’s Formula E team has taken the wraps off its 2024 contender, the e-4ORCE 05, maintaining the striking red-and-white livery that has become a signature look for the team over the past two seasons. The car features the familiar cherry blossom patterns, a nod to the team’s Japanese heritage and a symbol of “new beginnings,” as Nissan continues to strengthen its identity in the all-electric racing series.
Building on the success of an unexpectedly strong Season 10, which saw the team secure two victories and five podiums through the hands of driver Oliver Rowland, Nissan is determined to push even harder in the upcoming season. The 2024 Formula E season is set to kick off in São Paulo on December 7th.
In a major change for the new season, Norman Nato returns to the Paris-based Nissan team, replacing Sacha Fenestraz. Nato, who spent last season with Andretti, is reunited with Nissan as they aim to build a competitive duo alongside Rowland.
Nissan’s Formula E Renaissance
The team’s new e-4ORCE 05 comes on the heels of Nissan’s continued evolution in Formula E. The 2023 season was a significant turning point for the team, surpassing expectations with consistent podium finishes. Now, with a fully operational new factory in France, Nissan has its sights set even higher.
The team’s new facility is a state-of-the-art workshop, sprawling over 2,600 square meters. It includes cutting-edge simulator technology, engineering offices, and a multipurpose area designed to elevate the team’s performance. This upgrade is seen as a crucial factor for Nissan’s ambitions in the 2024 campaign.
Strong Driver Lineup to Lead Nissan Forward
Team Principal Tommaso Volpe expressed optimism about the upcoming season, saying, “We’re excited for the new season and have been working hard, getting to grips with the GEN3 Evo car.” Volpe emphasized that the team is already taking full advantage of their new facilities and that the driver lineup, with Rowland and Nato, looks poised to deliver strong results.
Rowland, fresh off a successful 2023 season, shared his excitement about the team’s new workshop and the possibilities it opens up for performance gains. “It’s great to have the new workshop fully in action,” said Rowland. “The location is ideal, and it sets a high bar for ourselves, showing our ambition to continue improving and fighting at the front.”
For Nato, the return to Nissan feels like coming home. “I’m delighted to be back with the team and I already feel comfortable straight away,” Nato said. He also praised the updated livery, adding, “The updated livery is really cool, keeping our Japanese identity, and the fans love it, making us so recognizable on-track.”
New Season, New Era
The upcoming season will introduce the GEN3 Evo era of Formula E, and Nissan is already adapting to the technical changes. The car’s all-wheel-drive system, a key innovation for the new generation of Formula E cars, presents both opportunities and challenges as the team prepares to optimize performance in preseason testing.
Nissan’s focus now shifts to Valencia, where the team will conduct extensive testing before the season opener in Brazil. With high expectations, a bolstered driver lineup, and a state-of-the-art facility, Nissan is aiming to build on last season’s success and compete for wins and podiums in 2024.
As the electric racing world gears up for another thrilling season, Nissan’s e-4ORCE 05 looks set to be a force to be reckoned with on the grid.
