The electric offensive from Nissan seems to be progressing well, despite the financial difficulties of the Japanese company, the failed merger with Honda, and the resignation of the brand’s CEO.
With a new strategy underway, Nissan is preparing to unveil a series of new and refreshed models by 2027. Already this year, the electrified product offensive will be boosted by the launch of two new electric vehicles, including the new generation of the Leaf.
With over 700,000 units sold since its market debut in 2010, the Leaf, a 100% electric model, is entering its third generation, with which Nissan aims to reclaim the top spot in sales among 100% electric models.
The new generation of the Leaf, now a high-performance crossover, was revealed in March, and its debut is scheduled for the end of this month, ahead of the launch at the end of the year; however, Nissan has now shown a video with more details about the new LEAF.
We already know that the third generation of the Leaf will be based on the same platform as the Nissan Ariya, suggesting similar powertrains. And that it is equipped with a solar roof and 19″ alloy wheels.

Now, we learn that Nissan has equipped the new Leaf with a drag coefficient of 0.25 Cd, which contributes to a claimed range of about 600 km, as well as retractable door handles, among other details that help optimize the range.
The panoramic roof, which seems to be optional, uses electromagnetic technology to adjust transparency and an infrared coating to reduce solar load.
