Nio trocou em média duas baterias por segundo

The Chinese company Nio announced new records in terms of speed in battery swap service, which it registered over four consecutive days, in a capacity that, for now, is only available in the domestic market. This achievement coincided with the New Year festivities in China, a period characterized by heavy traffic on the country’s highways and roads.

According to the brand specialized in 100% electric vehicles, the peak of activity was reached on February 21, with 175,976 battery swaps, a number that corresponds to an average of two operations per… second! During this period, Nio recorded a growing number of operations, with 158,290 on February 18, 165,898 on the 19th, and 170,305 on the 20th.

Earlier, on February 6, the company had already celebrated the historic milestone of 100 million operations in its network of battery swap stations, an achievement reached just 2,819 days after the introduction of a system in which it is a pioneer. In 2025, the Chinese brand performed, on average, one service every three minutes.

In 2018, when it launched both the network and the service, Nio had only four to five batteries stored at its stations, and a daily capacity of 72 to 120 swaps – the average speed of the operation was 4 to 5 minutes. At that time, manual assistance was required to properly position the vehicle during the process.

In the current fourth-generation battery swap network of Nio, the swap time has decreased to 2.24 minutes, and the battery storage capacity has increased to 23. The daily service capacity is 480 swaps. Currently, the company has 3,750 rapid battery swap centers, 1,022 of which are installed on the national highway network.

Nio also operates 4,926 charging stations in its home country, which is equivalent to 28,223 charging points. In the expansion plan for 2026, an additional 1,000 stations are planned. In Europe, across Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark, the Chinese company already has 61 stations.
