Nio pode estar a preparar um modelo híbrido para a Europa

Nio, the Chinese brand of 100% electric vehicles, may be planning to launch its first hybrid model in 2026, and all indications suggest that the hybrid initiative will be aimed solely at export markets, such as Europe.

According to “Reuters”, the development of a hybrid model aims to address the challenges faced by Chinese brands, particularly in Europe, due to rising customs duties, as well as to cope with the limited electric charging infrastructure available in some markets, such as the Middle East.

It is worth noting that Nio has already announced it will unveil the first model of the Firefly brand at the annual event scheduled for December 21, a model that Nio intends to be more affordable, to be marketed globally, and designed to meet the preferences of European consumers.

What remains unknown for now is whether the new Firefly will feature a hybrid powertrain, after Nio confirmed that the new range will include electric technology, without providing further details.

It is important to remember that the European Union imposed new tariffs of over 20% on 100% electric vehicles produced in China in October, a measure expected to be in effect for the next five years, in addition to the existing 10% import duty.

Although the new tariffs penalize 100% electric models manufactured in China, hybrid models are not yet subject to these tariffs, which could thus encourage Chinese manufacturers to export hybrid vehicles to the European market.
