Nio announced that now the launch of its new sub-brand, Firefly, in Europe, will take place, after initially predicting the launch for the first half of the year.
The Chinese brand introduced its new sub-brand in December 2024 and soon made it known that the new electric models would arrive in Europe. However, Nio’s expansion in the European market has been slower than expected due to sales challenges and the service network.

The model launching in Europe, the Firefly, arrived in the Chinese market in April, a compact electric hatchback aimed at young drivers and intended to compete with the BYD Dolphin, as well as the VW ID.3, and the Smart #1.
It is already known that the Firefly EV is equipped with a single electric motor, manufactured by Nio Technology, which is installed on the rear axle and is capable of generating a maximum power of 141 hp. This e-motor is powered by an LFP battery manufactured by Sunwoda, with the capacity not being revealed, although an autonomy of up to WLTP 225 km has been announced with the battery charged to 75%.
The compact electric model achieved 3,680 units sold in China in May, playing a key role in the overall sales increase of Nio, which recorded a growth of 13.1% compared to the same month of the previous year.
