Nico Rosberg Issues Fiery Warning to Max Verstappen Ahead of Canadian GP Showdown with Russell

The tension is mounting as the Canadian Grand Prix looms closer, with former Formula 1 champion Nico Rosberg throwing down the gauntlet for Max Verstappen. Despite the Red Bull driver starting alongside George Russell on the front row, Rosberg doubts Verstappen will exercise caution.

Verstappen is on thin ice, just one penalty point away from facing a race ban, raising questions about his approach to the race in Montreal. Rosberg believes that Verstappen needs to tread carefully, especially with Russell, who “has nothing to lose” and can push the limits without repercussions.

“Of course, he needs to be super careful. And that’s advantage George Russell. He can just lean right in there because he has nothing to lose really. He’s not in the championship hunt. Verstappen still is a little bit, so Verstappen is the one who would need to be, in theory, a little bit careful,” expressed Rosberg.

Despite the warnings, Rosberg is skeptical that Verstappen will change his aggressive driving style, stating, “We know he’s not going to be careful at all. I think it will make zero difference to him. Having 11 penalty points or 0 penalty points – no difference at all to him. He will do the same as always.”

Joining the debate, Danica Patrick, Rosberg’s co-presenter on Sky Sports F1, highlighted Verstappen’s unwavering nature, stating, “You can’t change your instincts… It’s just one of those things as a driver, and one of those things that’s natural to Max.”

Despite the tension, Russell added a touch of humor, mentioning his friendship with Verstappen and the difference in their penalty points. “We are mates, it’s all good! I’ve got a few more points on my licence to play with. Let’s see,” quipped Russell during a post-qualifying interview.

As the drivers gear up for the Canadian Grand Prix, all eyes will be on the Verstappen-Russell showdown on the front row, promising an electrifying start to the race weekend.
