At the end of this month of June, VW will present the new Golf R, which will come with more power, improved style, and a series of revisions that make this model the most powerful in the range.
Before the presentation of the new VW Golf R, the German brand revealed the new 19” forged wheels, available as an option.
VW confirmed that the new wheels, with an appealing design, improve driving dynamics, as they have a weight of only 8 kg, which means they are about 20% lighter than normal alloy wheels, allowing for the reduction of unsprung masses and ensuring perfect vehicle behavior.
“The ambitious weight goal represented a great challenge for us, as the structural stability of the wheel rim is essential. It took months and many iterations and simulations to find the right balance between strength and weight,” explained VW designer Ranbir Kalha.
In the center of the wheel rim design are ten overlapping rectangles. “We tried different proportions to make the rim look as big as possible,” added Kalha. Stability and wear resistance have been improved with a very open rate of 71 percent, a solution that allows the brakes to cool more effectively, thus reducing thermal stress, especially during track use.
Remember that the world premiere of the new Golf R, the fastback and wagon versions, is scheduled for the next day 26.
