Words are starting to run out for João Ferreira’s performance in Dakar 2024. This Monday, the driver, navigated by fellow Portuguese Filipe Palmeiro, achieved his second consecutive victory, this time in the eighth stage, and is fully in the fight for the final triumph.
Always among the three fastest throughout the route, Ferreira (Can-Am Factory Team) ended up surpassing Xavier de Soultrait (Sébastien Loeb Racing Bardahl Team/Polaris) by 3m43s. The Frenchman had taken the lead of the race yesterday and still holds it, now with a 7m41s advantage over the Portuguese.
Gerrard Farres Guell (South Racing Can-Am), Sara Price, and Cristian Batista (South Racing Can-Am) completed the top five fastest of the day. In the overall standings, Ferreira jumped from fourth to second, overtaking Price and Yasir Seaidan (MMP/BRP). The Saudi also lost position to Jérôme de Sadeleer (MMP/BRP), who is now fourth. The top five are within 31m26s, in the class where the fight is more open.
