Renault Twingo regressa em 2026 em modo 100% elétrico

Renault has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Slovenian government to produce the new Twingo at the French brand’s factory in Novo Mesto from 2026.

The new Twingo, which is expected to be sold for less than €20,000, will be a 100% electric model and the French brand plans to produce approximately 150,000 vehicles per year at the Slovenian production unit.

The newly signed agreement will allow the Renault factory in Novo Mesto to retain its current 1,400 employees, who currently produce the Clio.

It is worth noting that Renault unveiled the prototype of the new Twingo in 2023, a model with which the French brand aims to reduce the average development time of its models, which is currently around five years for traditional manufacturers.

To expedite the launch of the Twingo, it is expected that the model will have a 20% reduction in the number of parts, making use of more generic components.

In this sense, Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault, has already confirmed that the new Twingo will have a production cost 50% lower than a new C-segment SUV, due to the reduction of materials and a software-based platform that will require the use of fewer parts.

Therefore, it is expected that the new Twingo will be based on a version of the AmpR Small platform that supports the new 100% electric Renault 5.
