Chery has new facilities for the development and research of new cars in Paris. According to news reported by the website electrive.com, the new R&D center of the Chinese giant will develop projects for future generations of urban vehicles from the Jaecoo and Omoda brands for the European market.
No information has been released regarding the B-segment models that will be developed there, but one thing is certain: they will be partially or fully electrified. The development of new vehicles for this market category is, according to Chery, a crucial component of the group’s growth strategy in Europe.
The new facilities aim to analyze the expectations of European customers, as well as incorporate applicable regulatory requirements into product development at an early stage, and subsequently coordinate the implementation of specific adaptations required by each market. “The new R&D center in Paris represents an important step in expanding our engineering capabilities in Europe. Together with our development facilities in Raunheim, Germany, and Barcelona, Spain, we can further tailor our vehicles to the expectations of European customers, regulatory requirements, and the dynamics of each market”, says Jochen Tüting, Managing Director of Chery Europe GmbH.
