Novo McLaren GTS chega com V8 aprimorado e 635 cv

The McLaren has unveiled the new GTS, a model that replaces the GT and presents itself as an evolution of the well-known sports car from the British brand, focused on performance but maintaining the elegant design of its predecessor.

In this way, maintaining the elegant exterior lines of the GT, which continue to be the basis of the aerodynamic package and the profile of the new GTS, McLaren has introduced visual improvements in the new model, with emphasis on the front, where the “hammerhead” style has been updated with a new lower section of the front bumper.

This area now features larger air intakes, with wider openings to channel even more air to the engine cooling system. The front air intake blades can be optionally made of glossy carbon fiber, reflecting McLaren’s racing DNA and giving the GTS a more aggressive look. The rear stands out for its large diffuser and dual exhaust system.

As standard, the GTS features a glossy black finish on the exhaust system, mirror caps, and window frames, along with new GTS badges, including the new side logos, which can be painted with a black finish.

The use of new carbon fiber elements can be enhanced with a pack for the lower part of the body, which includes a front splitter, side skirts, lower rear bumper, and diffuser.

The GTS is equipped with a MonoCell II-T carbon fiber monocoque chassis. In addition, the standard composite roof is made of recycled carbon fiber, one of the many solutions used by McLaren to reduce the weight of the GTS to 1520 kg, or 10 kg less than the GT, in order to improve the dynamics of this sports car.

The new GTS is equipped with the well-known 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that delivers 635 hp (15 hp more than the GT) at 7500 rpm, while maintaining the maximum torque of 630 Nm between 5500 and 6500 rpm.

Thus, the new model from the Woking house has a power-to-weight ratio of 418 hp/1000kg, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds (0.1 seconds faster than the GT), from 0 to 200 km/h in 8.9 seconds, and reach a top speed of 327 km/h.

The GTS is equipped with a 7-speed SSG transmission that McLaren says provides smooth and fast gear shifts. In addition, the driver can enhance their driving experience with two additional driving modes, Sport and Track. The Sport mode introduces greater dynamics, providing faster and more aggressive gear shifts. The Track mode further elevates this level, maximizing the performance of the gearbox with minimal torque loss between gear shifts, which can be performed using the paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel.

It is also worth noting the braking system equipped with 390 mm carbon-ceramic discs at the front and 380 mm discs at the rear axle, allowing the McLaren GTS to stop in 32 meters at a speed of 100 km/h.

Inside, the GTS features a refined and high-quality cabin that uses a blend of selected materials to provide a performance and luxury environment, with polished aluminum controls, such as the paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel. It also features a 10.25″ digital instrument panel and a 7″ infotainment system screen with vertical orientation.

McLaren has not yet revealed the price of the new GTS, but has stated that the first deliveries of the new model are scheduled for 2024.
