The list of participants in the most recent edition of the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps of the FIA World Endurance Championship includes Jules Gounon, reserve driver for Alpine, in car number 35, while Ferdinand Habsburg recovers from his injury.
After Habsburg’s injury in early April during a testing session, the Alpine Endurance team brought in their reserve driver to replace the Austrian in the 6 Hours of Imola.
Initially including Habsburg in the provisional Spa participants list, a recent update indicates that Gounon will participate in his second WEC race in car number 35, an Alpine A424 in the Hypercar category, once again partnering with Paul Loup Chatin and Charles Milesi.
In Imola, car number 35 finished in 15th place, so the team will be aiming for a more competitive performance in Belgium.
Habsburg shared his situation and recovery progress on social media, and the next race on the 2024 WEC calendar, the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 15th and 16th, will be his next opportunity to return to racing.
Furthermore, an update on the IMSA and WEC conflict from Proton Competition reveals that car number 99, a Porsche 963, will be the fifth Hypercar in Spa with two drivers, as Neel Jani and Julien Andlauer will compete without the assistance of Harry Tincknell, who will be participating in the IMSA Course de Monterey at Laguna Seca.
On the other side of the ocean, Tincknell will be participating in the 2 hours and 40 minutes sprint race with Gianmaria Bruni in car number 5, a Proton Mustang Sampling 963, which is one of the 34 entries for the fourth stage of the 2024 IMSA calendar.
