The first manufacturing unit to produce Jeep automobiles outside North America, from which approximately 2.3 million vehicles bearing the logo of the brand specialized in SUVs and off-road vehicles have emerged to date, the Stellantis factory in Melfi, Italy, has already begun production of the new generation of the Compass, after having manufactured the Renegade for several years. In a statement, the American brand emphasized the adaptability of this industrial unit, capable of adjusting, almost in real time, to market demands, to satisfy demand, by combining the production of vehicles with hybrid and electric powertrains.

The new Compass, it should be noted, is based on the STLA Medium platform, which it shares, among other models from the Italo-French conglomerate, with the Peugeot 3008 and the Opel Grandland, being offered with hybrid (145 hp), plug-in hybrid (195 hp), and electric (375 hp, in this case, with four-wheel drive, up to 650 km of range in the WLTP cycle) powertrains. The units of the new Compass produced in Melfi – a complex of about 1.9 million square meters, and more than 4,600 employees – are destined for around 60 markets worldwide (Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Australia and New Zealand).
