New Jeep Cherokee “caught” testing

Novo Jeep Cherokee “apanhado” em testes

The American Jeep is developing several new models, and one of them has now been spotted testing. All indications point to it being the sixth generation of the Cherokee, which is expected to hit the market by the end of 2025. It is worth noting that Jeep bid farewell to the Cherokee in 2023, after 49 years of production, for the SUV that was one of the key contributors to the brand’s success outside the United States.

The images now revealed by “MotorAuthority” show the prototype with traditional camouflage; however, the profile is easily recognizable as a Jeep, featuring a high beltline, trapezoidal wheel arches, and the brand’s iconic grille.

Remember that the former CEO of Jeep announced at the 2024 Los Angeles Auto Show that the brand was preparing a compact crossover to take the place of the Cherokee, which would be launched in 2025.

Filosa did not confirm whether the new model will carry the Cherokee name, but he did confirm that it will be equipped with a hybrid powertrain, although he did not clarify whether it will be a plug-in hybrid configuration like the one Jeep uses in its 4xe models, or a mild-hybrid version.

Antonio Filosa did not reveal many details at the time about the new hybrid model that will fill the gap left by the Cherokee, but he mentioned that in addition to this new model, Jeep is preparing a refresh of the Compass, which will be based on Stellantis’s STLA Medium platform and is expected to hit the North American market in 2026, although it will be launched first in Europe in 2025, where it will also be manufactured.
