The new generation of the fully electric MG4 hatchback has been unveiled in China, featuring a fresh look and a significant weight reduction.
According to data released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China, which publishes a list of vehicles for approval monthly, the new generation of the MG4 is slightly larger than its predecessor, measuring 4.39 meters in length, 1.84 m in width, 1.55 m in height, and with a wheelbase of 2.75 m. This means the new generation of the MG4 is 108 mm longer and has an additional 45 mm in wheelbase.

The model’s refresh is also evident in the front section, doors, and rear, which have been redesigned, particularly the rear section that features a light strip and arrow-shaped taillights similar to those used by MG on the Cyberster.
In terms of weight, the new generation of the MG4 weighs in at 1,485 kg, representing a significant reduction compared to the 1,641 kg of the current generation.
MG has not yet revealed the interior of the new generation MG4 or technical details. However, Chinese authorities state that the updated model features a single electric motor with 160 hp, powered by a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery from Rept Battero Energy, although its capacity has not been disclosed.
