Nova geração do Hyundai Kauai elétrico com autonomia de mais de 500 km

Hyundai has announced the arrival of the renewed 100% electric Kauai to the national market in April, with the South Korean brand’s SUV promising a range of over 500 km between recharges.

Just like its predecessor, the renewed electric Kauai will be offered in the national market with two power levels, higher than before. The entry-level version uses a 156 hp motor powered by a 48.4 kWh battery, which promises a maximum range of 377 kilometers (WLTP). The more powerful version is equipped with a 218 hp motor, powered by a 65.4 kWh battery that allows a range of 514 kilometers.

The new generation of the Kauai Electric offers better dynamic performance than its predecessor, as the entry-level version, with the smaller battery, can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 162 km/h, while the variant with the larger capacity battery announces an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds and a top speed of 172 km/h.

Hyundai also revealed that through fast charging of 102.3 kW DC, the battery of the 100% electric Kauai can be charged from 10% to 80% of its capacity in 41 minutes. In 15 minutes, the long-range version with a 65.4 kWh battery can add up to 162 km and the standard range version with 48.4 kWh can add up to 114 km (WLTP combined cycle).

With an 11 kW AC charging, the standard version with a 48.4 kWh battery is charged in 4 hours and 55 minutes, while the long-range version is charged in 6 hours and 55 minutes.
The renewed Kauai appears larger compared to its predecessor, gaining 15 cm in length and 6 cm in wheelbase, allowing for more space in the cabin and trunk. With a length of 4.355 m, the Kauai is positioned among the largest SUVs in the B segment.

With an aerodynamic resistance coefficient of 0.27, the renewed Kauai was designed to enhance its volume and aerodynamic performance. In this way, the front section features a parametric surface design with sharp connections and meticulous details. Dynamic connection lines link the side waist and the satin chrome spoiler, wrapping around the entire vehicle, complementing its dynamic profile.

At the rear of the Kauai, the bold sculpted wheel arches feature integrated taillights, along with a Seamless Horizon signature light and a high-mounted stop lamp (HMSL) integrated into the design of the satin chrome spoiler.

In the cabin, the highlight is the gear selector that has been removed from the central console and mounted on the column behind the steering wheel, which allowed for more space to be freed up for an open and clean console structure that can be used for cup holders or storage of large bags.

Also noteworthy is the dual 12.3” panoramic screen with an intelligent design for maximum access, use, and control, while the option of relaxing front seats is optimized for a “weightless” distribution of body pressure, helping to relieve fatigue after a long drive.

In terms of storage, the Kauai now features a 30% larger trunk than its predecessor, with a capacity of 466 liters, which can reach 1300 liters with the rear seats folded in a 40:20:40 split. Additionally, in the front, the frunk provides a storage space of 27 liters, ideal for housing charging cables.

The new generation of the Kauai takes connectivity to the most advanced level, with continuous Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates. Furthermore, it is the first Hyundai model to implement the new Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), providing a fully digital experience of the instrument panel and infotainment screens.

Both the driver and passengers have access to two USB-C ports (including one with data support) and a 12V outlet in the front, as well as two USB-C chargers in the rear.

In terms of advanced driver assistance systems, the new generation of Kauai features the most advanced Hyundai Smart Sense ADAS functionalities, including an in-vehicle camera to analyze the driver’s attention and, in case of drowsiness or distraction, alert or intervene if necessary.

Available in Vanguard and N Line versions, with the latter reserved for combustion engine versions, the updated Kauai is equipped with Blind-Spot Radar and Collision Prevention, including Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning with Assist, allowing for lane changes by issuing an alert to warn of the risk of collision with vehicles in the blind spot. If necessary, automatic braking is applied to prevent an accident.

Hyundai has already announced that the new generation Hyundai Kauai electric will be available for delivery in the national market starting from the end of March and will feature a special launch campaign for companies with a starting price of €32,990 + VAT.
