The Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League, led by former Formula 1 driver Nick Heidfeld and former Mahindra Formula E team principal Dilbagh Gill, has unveiled images of its electric single-seater car and undergone a name change. Originally known as the ACE Championship, then Formula G, the series is now called the FG Series. It will consist of two levels of racing, FG1 and FG2, both using the FG-Twin car. Renowned vehicle designer Daniel Simon, known for his work on films such as Tron: Legacy and Top Gun: Maverick, will oversee the car’s design. The FG-Twin is a fully electric modular racing car that offers rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. It can operate with front and rear axle activation at a maximum power of 350 kW and has different performance levels for FG1 and FG2. FG2 will serve as the entry level for the series, while FG1 will cater to more experienced professional drivers. The project has already secured technical partners, including QEV Technologies, which has experience in Formula E. The FG-Twin car will be shared by multiple drivers over a race weekend to increase accessibility. It will also feature digital screens for displaying live data to spectators and TV viewers. Heidfeld, co-founder and sports director of the FG Series, expressed his satisfaction with the car’s design, crediting Daniel Simon’s exceptional skills. Simon himself aimed to create a car that meets performance and regulatory requirements while adding modern automotive style. The FG Series plans to finalize its calendar this year and begin production of the car in preparation for its inaugural races in 2025.
