The new CEO of Stellantis, Antonio Filosa, who replaces Carlos Tavares, who left the company in December 2024, has begun a “tour” of Stellantis production sites and offices in Europe, taking place before he officially assumes his new role on June 23.
According to “Reuters,” Filosa’s decision to start visits across Europe signals his intention to begin building strong relationships in Stellantis’s second largest market, after North America.
The same source added that on Wednesday, the day of his official appointment, Filosa was already in France, in Paris and at the Peugeot factory in Sochaux, and that the new CEO of Stellantis will be in Spain on Friday, May 30, and in Germany on June 2.
It should be noted that Antonio Filosa is Italian and lives in the USA, where he was responsible for Stellantis in North and South America. His career at the company began in 1999 at Fiat, now one of the brands of Stellantis, where he held various positions, mainly in Latin America, leading the brand to a market-leading position and then significantly expanding the Peugeot, Citroën, Ram, and Jeep brands. As a result, Stellantis increased its clear leadership in the region. His work in establishing the Pernambuco factory, one of the largest automotive hubs in South America, launched Jeep in Brazil, which quickly became the brand’s market leader outside the United States.
Antonio Filosa’s work as CEO of Stellantis will not be easy, as the company, which manufactures brands such as Jeep, Fiat, Peugeot, Chrysler, and Opel, has seen its market share in Europe decrease over the past two years.
