Over the past few months, there have been rumors about the possibility of Audi backing out of its Formula 1 project, which includes the acquisition of Sauber – allegedly due to the new CEO Gernot Dollner’s opposition to the premier category.
However, according to Manager Magazin, the executive supports the initiative started by his predecessors. According to the DPA agency, Oliver Hoffman from Audi’s management emphasized the importance of F1 for the manufacturer during a recent meeting, stating that an exit is not an option. Dollner did not intervene in the matter.
On the other hand, Auto Motor und Sport also writes that everything indicates that the CEO supports the entry into F1, although he may not publicly comment on the matter soon due to contractual provisions that require a period of confidentiality after joining the management.
