In a statement, ACEA revealed that the hybrid vehicle market continues to grow, capturing 34.7% of the market, remaining the preferred choice among EU consumers.

In the first eight months of 2025, the plug-in hybrid vehicle market reached 631,783 registered units, benefiting from growth in key markets such as Spain (+99.9%) and Germany (+61.2%), as well as Italy (+62.6%).

As a result, plug-in hybrid vehicles now represent 8.8% of new vehicle registrations in the EU, compared to 6.9% recorded in the same period last year.

Meanwhile, hybrid models recorded a total of 2,485,069 new units sold from January to August, driven by growth in the four largest EU markets: France (+30.5%), Spain (+29.3%), Germany (+10.1%), and Italy (+9.4%).

Thus, the hybrid model market represents 34.7% of the total EU market.
On the other hand, gasoline vehicles reached a total of 2,012,580 new vehicles registered up to August, a decrease of 6.8%, to 28.1%, compared to the same period in 2024.

Similarly, the diesel vehicle market continues to decline, having recorded a drop of 25.7% from January to August, resulting in a share of 9.4% in the year-to-date until August 2025.
