After the introduction of the plug-in hybrid version, which went on sale in Portugal at the beginning of December, there is a new expansion of the BYD compact SUV range with the arrival of the Atto 2 Comfort, available in the Portuguese market next spring. In what is the 100% electric variant of the family capable of covering greater distances between charges, the big news, as it could not be otherwise, is the battery: with a capacity of 64.8 kWh, it not only allows for an announced range of 430 km in the combined WLTP cycle but is also capable of receiving fast charging up to 155 kW, so that 25 minutes are enough to replenish 10%-80% of the charge.
Compared to the entry-level version, with a 47 kWh battery and fast charging up to 65 kW, the Atto 2 Comfort gains 118 km of range and takes 12 minutes less to recharge 80% of the battery at a fast charging station. The electric motor installed on the front axle delivers the same 177 hp and 290 Nm across all fully electric versions of the model. It remains to be seen, regarding the latest version, the charging times on alternating current connections; whether the use of a larger capacity battery has had consequences in terms of weight and performance; and what its commercial positioning will be in Portuguese territory, that is, what price it will be offered at, and with what level, or levels, of equipment it will be proposed (note that the Atto 2 Active costs €31,490 with us, and the more equipped Atto 2 Boost €32,990, both with a 47 kWh battery).
