Nasser Al-Attiyah Triumphs in Heart-Pounding Sixth Dakar Rally Victory!

In an electrifying finale that had fans on the edge of their seats, Nasser Al-Attiyah has clinched his sixth overall victory at the grueling Dakar Rally! Piloting his Dacia, Al-Attiyah faced the ultimate challenge during the decisive final stage: maintain his solid 16-minute lead over rival Nani Roma and avoid any costly blunders.

The tension soared during the 105-kilometer closing stage, where bike racer Ricky Brabec suffered a devastating navigational error that cost him the overall triumph. Al-Attiyah, too, felt the heat as he lost eight minutes of his lead between kilometers 21 and 43, causing hearts to race and pulses to quicken among his supporters.

However, the tenacious Qatari driver rebounded brilliantly, crossing the finish line with a staggering 9 minutes and 42 seconds to spare over Ford’s Roma, sealing his sixth victory in the legendary Dakar Rally. This remarkable achievement narrows the gap to the record for the most wins in the car category, previously held by the legendary Stephane Peterhansel, to just two.

While Al-Attiyah’s performance was nothing short of spectacular, he did not secure the final stage win, leaving him tied with Peterhansel and Ari Vatanen for the all-time record of 50 stage victories. In a fitting display of competitive spirit, Mattias Ekstrom claimed victory in the final stage, while Roma and Ekstrom rounded out the podium.

Adding to the drama, nine-time world rally champion Sebastian Loeb finished fourth overall, just edging out the formidable Carlos Sainz, a four-time Dakar champion and two-time world rally titleholder.

As the dust settles on this monumental event, fans are left in awe of Al-Attiyah’s grit and determination. Witness the final standings and relive the electrifying moments that defined this year’s Dakar Rally!
