Nasser Al-Attiyah made his debut by winning the 2024 edition of the Dakar with the Nasser Racing Prodrive Hunter. The driver moved up to second place in the overall standings before the 48-hour marathon stage.
In the fifth stage, which had only 118km of timed sections, the Qatari driver completed it in 1h37m25s. Consistently the fastest, he surpassed Guerlain Chicherit (Overdrive Racing/Toyota) by 1m51s. Overdrive Racing had a strong performance, placing three more drivers in the top five: Juan Cruz Yacopini, Yazeed Al Rajhi, and Guillaume de Mevius.
The sixth in the T1U, the main category, was Giniel de Villiers (Toyota), but ahead of him Francisco López Contardo (Can-Am Factory) was the best among the Challengers and achieved a sixth place in the combined classification of all car categories.
In the overall standings, Al Rajhi remains the leader, now 9m03s ahead of Al-Attiyah who surpassed Carlos Sainz. The Spanish Audi driver had a more complicated day, only achieving the 16th position. Mattias Ekström (Audi) is in fourth place, ahead of Mathieu Serradori (Century Racing Factory Team). After another top ten among the T1U with the ninth time, Lithuanian Vaidotas Zala with Portuguese navigator Paulo Fiúza (X-Raid Arijus Team/MINI) is in seventh place overall.
