Revolutionary NASCAR Expansion Plan Unveiled: Military Bases Nationwide on the Horizon!

In a groundbreaking move that will shake the very foundations of NASCAR, executive Ben Kennedy has disclosed a daring vision to extend the reach of the beloved sport beyond the confines of the racetrack. The 2026 San Diego Race at Naval Base Coronado is set to be the catalyst for a series of events at military installations across the country, marking a bold new chapter in NASCAR history.

The highly-anticipated street race in San Diego, scheduled as a tribute to the US Navy’s 250th anniversary, will not only thrill fans but also pave the way for a nationwide expansion. Kennedy, in an exclusive interview with The Athletic’s Jordan Bianchi, hinted at the possibility of future races at various military bases, promising a spectacle like never before.

“We’ve always talked about this a lot internally, is we would love to kick it off and be at Naval Base Coronado for a number of years, but this could also be an opportunity for us to move into other military installations across the country, too,” Kennedy revealed, igniting excitement among NASCAR enthusiasts worldwide.

Amidst the buzz surrounding the 2026 San Diego Race, speculations have also emerged about the potential return of NASCAR to Chicago. Despite the recent exclusion of the Chicago Street Course from the 2026 calendar, Chicago Alderman Brian Hopkins remains resolute in his belief that NASCAR will make a triumphant comeback in 2027 and beyond.

“After this meeting, I am absolutely convinced they want to come back and race in ’27, ’28 and beyond… It’s time to hit the reset button and make sure that the Chicago taxpayers get what they’re entitled to for hosting this event,” Hopkins declared emphatically, setting the stage for a thrilling resurgence of NASCAR in the Windy City.

As NASCAR enthusiasts eagerly await the unfolding of these monumental plans, the sport continues to captivate audiences with its adrenaline-pumping races and unwavering spirit of competition. Stay tuned as NASCAR revolutionizes the racing landscape, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of fans across the nation.
