NASCAR Shocks Xfinity Series with Heavy Penalties for Bumper Cover Violations

In a stunning turn of events in the NASCAR world, the Xfinity Series has been rocked by penalties for two teams due to bumper cover violations. The No. 99 Viking Motorsports Chevrolet, driven by Matt DiBenedetto, and the No. 87 Jordan Anderson Racing Chevrolet, piloted by Austin Green, were found to have violated Sections 14.4.A: Body and 14.4.11.C&D of the NASCAR rule book during pre-race inspections at Talladega.

As a result of these violations, both teams have been hit with severe penalties by NASCAR. Each organization has been stripped of 20 driver and owner points, lost five crucial playoff points, and fined a whopping $25,000 each. These penalties are classified as L1 level infractions, sending shockwaves through the Xfinity Series paddock.

Despite the heavy penalties, Matt DiBenedetto maintains his position in the regular season standings, holding onto 24th place. On the other hand, Austin Green and the No. 87 team, operating on a part-time basis this season, are not in contention for the championship.

The enforcement didn’t stop there, as NASCAR conducted thorough inspections on other vehicles post-race. The No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet driven by Kyle Larson and the No. 21 Wood Brothers Racing Ford driven by Josh Berry were completely torn down by NASCAR officials. Fortunately for Larson and Berry, no violations were found during the inspections.

The Xfinity Series penalties have sent shockwaves through the racing community, emphasizing NASCAR’s commitment to upholding the rules and regulations to ensure fair competition on the track. Teams are now on high alert as they prepare for the next round of races, knowing that any infractions will be met with swift and severe consequences.
