NASCAR specialist labels Jimmie Johnson’s campaign in 2024 as “terrible and disastrous”

Especialista da NASCAR rotula campanha de Jimmie Johnson em 2024 como “terrível e desastrosa”

Jimmie Johnson, a seven-time NASCAR Cup champion, made his return to NASCAR in 2023 after a two-year stint in IndyCar. He joined Petty GMS Racing as a minority owner and driver, which later became Legacy Motor Club. While he has found success as a team owner, his performances as a driver have been disappointing.

Since joining Legacy Motor Club, Johnson has competed in six races over the past two years. Unfortunately, half of his finishes in these races have been outside the top-30. His best finish with the team was in 28th place, achieved at the 2024 Daytona 500 and the Dover race last Sunday. This string of disappointing performances has left many racing enthusiasts and fans disappointed.

During a discussion on the Rubbin Is Racing podcast from Barstool Sports, racing analyst Quigs expressed his disappointment with Johnson’s performance this season. He believes Johnson is far from impressive and is struggling to regain his winning form. Quigs’ sentiments echo those of many NASCAR fans who have witnessed Johnson’s decline.

Quigs also highlighted Johnson’s poor race results, noting that even in the recent Dover race where he finished six laps down, he managed to avoid major incidents. This suggests that Johnson is not performing at the level he desires as the driver of the number 84 Camry car.

Johnson had a promising start in the Kansas race this weekend, his fourth start of the 2024 season, with a 19th place qualifying position. He hopes to build on this momentum and secure a good result to break his poor streak and bring Legacy Motor Club back to a favorable position.
