NASCAR Fans Outraged Over Rick Hendrick’s Decision to Snub Rajah Caruth for Xfinity Series Races

Jeff Gordon celebrates with Rick Hendrick their driver Kyle Larson (5) won the Brickyard 400, Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Fans Rage After Hendrick Motorsports Snubs Rajah Caruth for Xfinity Series in 2025

In a decision that has left many NASCAR fans shaking their heads, Rick Hendrick and Hendrick Motorsports have drawn the ire of fans after revealing their 2025 Xfinity Series lineup—and, notably, Rajah Caruth is nowhere to be seen. Caruth, a rising star in the sport, had a breakout year in 2024, but despite his promising performance, Hendrick has opted for other drivers, creating a firestorm of criticism from fans and commentators alike.

The Shocking Snub: A Disappointment for Caruth and Fans Alike

Hendrick Motorsports announced that they will be participating in 16 Xfinity races in 2025, with the No. 17 Chevrolet. The roster includes the team’s four Cup Series stars—William Byron, Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, and Alex Bowman—alongside Corey Day, the 19-year-old dirt racing sensation. While the excitement for the team’s return to the Xfinity Series is palpable, Caruth’s exclusion has overshadowed the announcement, drawing fierce backlash from the NASCAR community.

Caruth, who had an outstanding 2024 season, finishing 7th in the Truck Series standings, was expected to be a key part of Hendrick’s Xfinity campaign. In his first full year in the Truck Series, the 22-year-old not only won his first race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway but also became the third black driver in NASCAR history to claim a victory, following in the footsteps of Bubba Wallace and Wendell Scott. His impressive stats—five top-5 finishes, twelve top-10 finishes, and two poles—cemented him as one of NASCAR’s most promising young talents. Fans believed his success would earn him a seat in the Xfinity car. But Hendrick’s decision to bypass him has left many fans stunned.

One fan tweeted in frustration, “Damn, they couldn’t even give Rajah one race. F—— pathetic.” The disappointment is shared by many who feel that Caruth’s hard work and results have earned him a place in the lineup, and his omission from the 2025 Xfinity races feels like a missed opportunity.

A Year of Impressive Achievements for Rajah Caruth

Rajah Caruth’s success in 2024 wasn’t just confined to the Truck Series. Caruth made 19 Xfinity starts in 2022 and 2023, gaining invaluable experience on the track and further solidifying his connection with Hendrick Motorsports. With HendrickCars.com as his sponsor in the Xfinity races last year, many expected Caruth to be an obvious choice for the team in 2025.

However, Hendrick Motorsports has chosen to go in a different direction, bringing in Corey Day, a 19-year-old dirt racing star who impressed last year by defeating Kyle Larson at the 2024 Turkey Night Grand Prix. While Day’s success is undeniable, fans are left questioning why Hendrick chose him over Caruth, who has already demonstrated his ability to compete at a high level in both the Truck and Xfinity Series.

The Bigger Picture: A Missed Opportunity for Diversity and Development

The exclusion of Caruth, one of the few prominent black drivers in NASCAR, has sparked a wider conversation about diversity and the future of the sport. Caruth’s success in the Truck Series was a significant milestone for NASCAR, and many fans hoped to see him continue to break barriers in the sport. Hendrick Motorsports, a team known for developing young talent, could have been a perfect platform for Caruth’s continued growth. His omission feels like a setback, not just for Caruth, but for NASCAR’s efforts to broaden the sport’s appeal and attract new fans.

While Hendrick Motorsports is undeniably focused on the future, the decision to overlook Caruth in favor of other drivers like Corey Day has left many fans scratching their heads. As the 2025 season approaches, the NASCAR community is left to wonder whether Hendrick Motorsports missed a golden opportunity to develop a future star in Caruth—one who could have been an asset to both the team and the sport at large. The pressure is on for the team to prove that their decisions align with their reputation for developing top-tier drivers and maintaining a legacy of success.

Conclusion: Fans Demand Change

NASCAR fans are vocal, passionate, and committed to the sport. The outrage over Rajah Caruth’s snub is not just about one driver’s omission—it’s about the future of NASCAR and the sport’s responsibility to provide opportunities for rising stars. The backlash against Rick Hendrick and Hendrick Motorsports shows that fans expect more from their favorite teams—especially when it comes to nurturing diverse, talented drivers. The message is clear: NASCAR must ensure that the next generation of drivers, like Rajah Caruth, get the opportunities they’ve earned.
