The biggest storyline of the 2025 Formula 1 season is Lewis Hamilton’s stunning move to Ferrari—but not everyone is convinced it will have a fairytale ending.
F1 presenter Naomi Schiff has raised concerns about the seven-time world champion’s final chapter, warning that Hamilton could end his career without the eighth title he has long pursued.
As Hamilton prepares for his first season in Ferrari red, Schiff believes that the 40-year-old is running out of time—and if Ferrari can’t deliver a title-contending car, it could spell a bittersweet conclusion to one of F1’s greatest careers.
“He’s also not got a decade left in the sport,” Schiff pointed out.
“So it’d be sad to see Lewis do this last chapter of his career not in the best possible way—not having the victories that he might want to have, not potentially even getting that eighth title that we all know he deserves.”
The Pressure on Ferrari: Can They Give Hamilton a Winning Car?
Hamilton’s arrival at Scuderia Ferrari isn’t just about nostalgia or marketing—it’s about winning.
The move is expected to bring in $125 million in additional revenue for Ferrari, proving just how much influence the seven-time champion still holds.
But money won’t be Hamilton’s biggest concern—he wants to fight for wins.
“At the end of the day, I hope for him, that will be the switch at Ferrari, where all of a sudden the new car, the new setup, maybe unlocks what we know that he has in him,” Schiff said.
“It might just be that confidence that comes back.”
Hamilton’s Struggles in the Ground-Effect Era
Since Formula 1 introduced ground-effect aerodynamics in 2022, Hamilton has struggled to adapt.
While Mercedes teammate George Russell secured a win in 2022, Hamilton has not won a single race in the past two seasons—his longest drought since entering the sport in 2007.
“Confidence is key,” Schiff emphasized.
The hope is that Ferrari’s SF-25 can reignite Hamilton’s form, allowing him to once again fight at the front.
Will Ferrari Deliver? A History of Near Misses
Ferrari has shown flashes of competitiveness in recent years, but consistency has been a major issue.
- 2022: Charles Leclerc started strong but Ferrari’s strategy blunders and reliability issues cost him a title fight.
- 2023: The team was no match for Red Bull, struggling to keep up with Max Verstappen.
- 2024: Ferrari won five races but still finished behind McLaren in the Constructors’ Championship.
Fred Vasseur, Ferrari’s team principal, insists that the 2025 car is a complete overhaul with only 1% of its parts carried over from last season. But until it hits the track, no one knows if Ferrari has truly closed the gap to Red Bull.
The Stakes: A Legacy-Defining Season for Hamilton
For Hamilton, 2025 is one of the most important seasons of his career.
If Ferrari gives him a title-winning car, he could cement his legacy with a record-breaking eighth championship. But if the SF-25 fails to deliver, Hamilton risks ending his career in frustration, much like Fernando Alonso’s ill-fated Ferrari stint in the early 2010s.
As the season opener in Melbourne approaches, the question remains:
Will Hamilton’s Ferrari chapter be a triumphant final act—or an unfulfilled dream?
