Ford Mustang GTD vai chegar à Europa no verão

Ford has confirmed that demand for the new Mustang GTD in the US has exceeded the brand’s expectations. The arrival of the Mustang GTD in Europe comes at a time when the region is preparing to begin the process of collecting applications from potential interested parties in the model. However, considering the numbers achieved in the US, where applications closed on the last day of May 21, with over 7500 customers formalizing their application to acquire the new model in the MY 2025 or 2026 versions, life will not be easy for European customers.

Ford revealed that in the US, one in four of those interested in acquiring the new Mustang GTD already owns a “pony car,” while one in five claims to own a competitor’s vehicle with similar performance levels.

“With the Mustang GTD, we set out to build a competition car for the road, with the heart of a Mustang and the determination to surpass the best European models. Since we opened applications to American consumers, we have seen customers respond to that motivation”, said Jim Owens, director of the Mustang GTD brand. “Whether they own a sports model from a rival brand or are already owners of another Mustang, the competition-derived performance of the Mustang GTD is being recognized.”

With high demand in the USA, production of the new Ford Mustang GTD for 2025 and 2026 is already completely sold out, even before the model arrives in Europe.

The new Mustang GTD will be presented at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June, and later will make an appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK, taking place from July 11 to 14.

Remember that Ford has announced that the new sports model has a limited edition of 1000 units for Europe, and features a Supercharged V8 5.2-liter engine with over 800 hp that can rev up to 7500 rpm, and which according to Ford was specially developed with dual air intakes and the first dry sump oil system installed in a road-going Mustang to help keep the engine lubricated during more demanding turns.

All the power is sent from the engine to the rear wheels through a carbon fiber driveshaft connected to an 8-speed rear transmission for a nearly 50/50 weight distribution between the front and rear.
