Semana de Corrida de Motores avalia pilotos do Grande Prêmio da Áustria de F1 2024

Verstappen maintains the lead at the start of the race. In the Austrian Formula 1 Grand Prix, Max Verstappen and Lando Norris collide, resulting in an unexpected victory for Mercedes and George Russell at the Red Bull Ring. This incident had a significant impact on our perception of the two drivers’ weekends and highlighted standout performances and disappointments as the race progressed in Spielberg.

Verstappen had a successful weekend in Austria, winning the Sprint race and securing pole position. Despite controlling the pace in the early stages of the race, a slow pit stop allowed Norris to close in on him. The two drivers had several intense battles, but a collision on lap 64 resulted in tire punctures for both. Verstappen received a 10-second penalty but still managed to finish in fifth place.

Perez’s difficulties continued at Red Bull’s home race, with contact at the start causing damage to his car. He struggled to keep up with Verstappen’s pace and finished behind Nico Hulkenberg’s Haas.

Norris, taking advantage of McLaren’s speed, was the closest competitor to Verstappen. However, an error in the Sprint race and Verstappen’s actions during the main race prevented him from overtaking and ultimately led to his retirement.

Piastri had a mixed weekend, leading his teammate Norris in the Sprint race but facing challenges in qualifying. Despite a collision with Verstappen, he managed to finish in second place, but a grid penalty cost him a potential victory.

Leclerc’s weekend was marked by problems in the Sprint race and damage during the main race, resulting in a disappointing 11th place.

Sainz had a consistent weekend, avoiding mistakes and securing a place on the podium. Russell had a great performance throughout the weekend, benefiting from the collision between Norris and Verstappen to secure an unexpected victory.

Hamilton had difficulties at the Red Bull Ring and expressed disappointment with his performance. Damage to the floor and a penalty in the pit lane further hindered his race, leaving him with no chance of securing his 104th victory.

Aston Martin had a challenging weekend, with Alonso losing to his teammate in both the Sprint and main races. He also made an unusual mistake, resulting in a time penalty. Stroll had a good performance, consistently outperforming Alonso in both races.

Gasly surpassed Ocon in both the Sprint race and qualifying, securing valuable points for Alpine. Hulkenberg had an impressive performance, finishing ahead of faster cars and securing a good number of points for Haas.

Magnussen had a solid weekend, surpassing his teammate in the Sprint race and finishing just outside the points zone in the main race. Tsunoda struggled compared to his teammate, failing to score points.

Ricciardo had a successful weekend, scoring points in his tally and avoiding major mistakes. Sargeant surprised in the Sprint race, but struggled in the main race, finishing last with a Williams car lacking speed. Albon had a disappointing weekend, trailing behind Sargeant in both sessions.

Sauber remained the slowest team on the grid, with Bottas outperforming his teammate in all sessions. Zhou had a difficult race, starting from the pit lane and finishing ahead only of Sargeant’s abandoned car and Alonso’s penalized car.
