MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi excited by Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari debut

MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi has expressed his genuine excitement over Lewis Hamilton’s imminent debut with Ferrari in the 2025 season—a move already hailed as one of the biggest sporting stories in Formula 1.

Hamilton, the seven-time world champion, is widely expected to help revive Ferrari’s former glory, and his switch to the iconic Italian team has ignited enthusiasm throughout the motorsport community. Rossi, who has crossed paths with Hamilton both on and off the track during his own illustrious career in MotoGP, believes that the Briton’s transition is not only historic but also “beautiful.”

In recent interviews, the 45-year-old Rossi, who once entertained talks about buying a debt-ridden two-wheeler team—a rumor that further boosted his already massive popularity—shared his admiration for Hamilton’s decision. “Surely it is a beautiful thing. Seeing him in the red suit excites me too, and I can’t wait to see how he will manage,” Rossi said, adding that he is keen to see how Hamilton’s stint with Ferrari unfolds and how rival star Charles Leclerc will respond.

Rossi recalled a memorable encounter with Hamilton in 2019 when the two swapped their respective machines. “That test with Hamilton? Nice. Dinner and confidences. The next day, I arrived late—I was changing, and there he was in his motorhome, fully dressed as Hamilton, pointing to the clock. The usual Italians, cappuccino, brioche… He scolded me. He smiled. Not quite though,” Rossi recounted with a mix of humor and nostalgia.

As the 2025 season approaches, Hamilton’s move to Ferrari is garnering massive global attention, and Rossi’s enthusiastic endorsement underscores the significance of this transition. For Rossi, a figure who has witnessed countless shifts in motorsport history, Hamilton’s decision to race in red represents not just a personal milestone but a new chapter that promises an emotional rollercoaster for all the tifosi.
