In addition to manufacturing automobiles, the Chinese company Chery also has an advanced robotics division, responsible, for example, for the creation of Mornine, a highly intelligent and autonomous robot that aims to revolutionize the interaction between machines and humans. Presented at one of Chery’s annual new technology meetings, the assistant robot was one of the highlights of the event, showcasing the advancements achieved by the company in the fields of robotics, computing, and autonomous systems.
Defined as an AiMOGA (Artificial intelligence Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm), that is, as an example of Artificial Intelligence with a Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm, this robot emerged from the idea of Omoda, one of the brands of the Chery group, to create a realistic “avatar” that could appeal to Generation Z, although its appearance, with partial exposure of a female face, ends up evoking more the cyborg Robocop, created in Hollywood… Casual similarities aside, Mornine was initially invented for the virtual world, but the brand’s managers decided to transpose the virtual assistant to the real world, with prototypes already presented previously, and the skill of the latest version already allows it to assist in the sale of cars at dealerships in Malaysia.
Now, in another important step, Mornine has become the world’s first humanoid robot to obtain full certification from the European Union, covering both hardware and software: developed by Chery’s AiMOGA Robotics division, the system has obtained three important certifications – CE-MD (Machine Safety), CE-RED (Radio Equipment), and EN 18031 (Cybersecurity and Data Protection) – reflecting Chery’s growing expertise in intelligent engineering and future technologies. In the context of constant evolution, Chery anticipates that this AiMOGA robot could expand its presence to high-frequency human-machine interaction scenarios, such as shopping centers, exhibitions, cinemas, and government service centers, but also to more emotional spaces, including schools and elderly care facilities.
