The Road Safety Campaign “Zero Rate at the Wheel” recorded more than 11 thousand infractions, of which more than 800 were related to driving under the influence of alcohol.
The data revealed by the National Road Safety Authority (ANSR), regarding the road safety campaign ‘Zero Rate at the Wheel’ that took place between October 31 and November 6, and which had “the objective of alerting vehicle drivers to the risks of driving under the influence of alcohol, with a total of 51,873 vehicles being physically inspected and a total of 11,271 infractions recorded, of which 899 were related to driving under the influence of alcohol”.
The statement also states that during the seven days of the campaign, a total of “2,816 accidents occurred, resulting in 3 deaths, 32 serious injuries, and 742 minor injuries”.
A total of 173 drivers and passengers were sensitized during the campaign, in five awareness-raising actions by ANSR, carried out simultaneously with the inspection operations carried out by the GNR and the PSP, to whom warning messages about the risks of driving under the influence of alcohol were transmitted.
