Monaco Madness: Alex Dunne Shocks F2 with Thrilling Pole Victory in Dramatic Qualifying

In a jaw-dropping display of speed and skill, Alex Dunne of Rodin Motorsport claimed the coveted pole position for the Formula 2 Feature Race in Monaco, dethroning the competition and making a statement as the fifth different polesitter of 2025.

The intense qualifying session saw Dunne snatch the pole position from Victor Martins of ART Grand Prix with a blistering last-gasp lap, clocking in at 1:21.142s, a mere 0.003s faster than his closest rival. Martins, who had led the Free Practice session, had to settle for starting the Feature Race from second on the grid, with Leonardo Fornaroli of Invicta Racing securing the third spot.

Monaco’s tight and twisty streets always make for an exhilarating qualifying session, with drivers divided into two groups – Group A for even-numbered cars and Group B for odd-numbered entries. The battle for pole position is fierce, with the fastest driver overall claiming the top spot, and the grid formation following a unique alternating pattern based on lap times.

As the adrenaline-fueled sessions unfolded, drivers pushed themselves to the limit, with standout performances from contenders like Arvid Lindblad, Richard Verschoor, and Gabriele Mini. Lindblad briefly clinched pole position in Group A before Martins reclaimed the spot with an impressive lap time. Meanwhile, in Group B, the drama continued as Dunne overcame challenges to emerge victorious and secure his spot at the front of the grid.

The thrilling qualifying session set the stage for a showdown in Monaco, with Dunne’s pole position shaking up the grid and setting the tone for an action-packed Feature Race. As the championship battle heats up, every pole position becomes crucial, adding to the excitement and unpredictability of the F2 season.

Stay tuned as the drivers gear up to battle it out on the iconic streets of Monaco, where precision, skill, and nerves of steel will be put to the ultimate test. The race weekend promises thrills, spills, and high-speed drama as the quest for F2 supremacy reaches new heights in the heart of Monte Carlo.
