New vision from Mitsubishi, presented at the Tokyo Mobility Show, in the form of the Elevance Concept prototype, an SUV with adventurous ambitions, three rows of two seats, a dashboard with three monitors positioned side by side, an advanced all-wheel drive system, and powered by a plug-in hybrid engine – which even has a special trailer that can be used for sleeping, bathing, and, using the energy from the car itself, cooking. Under the slogan “always adventure,” the house of the three diamonds aims to elevate (hence the name of the study) the quality of life on board the vehicles it produces, without giving up on strengths that are dear to it, such as robustness or off-road capability.

Proof of this is the inclusion, in the Elevance Concept, of a more sophisticated version of the S-AWC (Super-All Wheel Control) all-wheel drive system, with motors in the wheels, allowing for different forms of use, both on asphalt and off-road. Or the plug-in hybrid powertrain based on a very efficient gasoline engine (capable of consuming carbon-neutral fuel), combined with electric motors powered by a high-capacity battery. And while the Japanese brand does not disclose any data regarding the mechanics, it states that the vehicle is capable of operating like any electric car under normal daily use conditions, which suggests that it has a lot of range.
But the Elevance Concept has other adventurous attributes: it can be equipped with a trailer that serves as a capsule for sleeping in remote locations, with the PHEV system’s battery acting as a powerbank to power ambient lighting, or even a stove for preparing hot meals. During the Press Conference at the Japanese event, Takao Kato, the president and CEO of the brand, said: “We chose ‘Forever Adventure’ as the theme of our space to express our passion for exploring new territories. And this spirit comes to life in cars that incorporate our cutting-edge technologies in the fields of electrification and all-wheel drive, like this concept”.
